“Beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by its affirmation, by each of us claiming the identities and cultural legacies that shape who we are and how we live in the world.”
—bell hooks, Killing Rage: Ending Racism
A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
Tangible Culture is about dreaming and creating infinite possibilities where Black, Indigenous, and People of Color are treated as full citizens with dignity and decency. It's about memorializing and revering (trans-) cultural, political, and historical knowledge, bodies, and identities that contribute to vibrant communities around the world. Our liberation is about regard, underscoring the spectrum of identities or lived experiences as indispensable to the global imagination.
In Solidarity

We are an incubator for educators* committed to fighting against identity-based violence and other forms of group-targeted harm within our schools and society at large. Our commitment is to foster transnational alliances among educators, create accessible educational programs and engage collaboratively with parents, student groups, and community members locally and globally.
Building multiracial and intergenerational coalitions is possible through intercultural education.
Tangible Culture advances intercultural learning and supports and develops those actively working to counter political, cultural, and economic violence in their schools and communities. We create brave and critical spaces for students, educators, parents, and community leaders to analyze the root causes of interpersonal and inter-communal violence and generate solutions that result in meaningful action.
Intercultural Development
We believe everyone has their own understanding of the world based on where they come from and how they’ve been socialized. We value personal development rooted in cultural learning and experiences that lead to new ways of being and doing. We take a coaching approach to help you make sense of intercultural experiences in your community and workplaces and provide resources that will further your learning.
Global and Inspirational Community
We provide connection and support for practitioners to learn and navigate cultural differences together regardless of time zones, languages, spaces, and identities. These opportunities allow us to expand our network of educators who are committed to human rights, peace, and justice.
Experiential Learning
The best learning experiences are ones that require to “do things,” not just think about it. We designed intentional experiences that help action-learning groups connect the theories to praxis by tackling technical problems and co-creating resources that help us address conflict that threatens our livelihood and destabilizes our schools and communities.
HELPING EDUCATORS* ADDRESS THE SYSTEM, NOT SYMPTOMS.
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT:
Education
At Tangible Culture, education is the bedrock of our programming. We create spaces for community leaders, educators, and activists to learn about human rights, history, and social change.
Storytelling
We believe storytelling is critical to building peaceful societies and developing awareness about ourselves and people from other cultures.
Collective Action
Solidarity & intersectionality are important ingredients for achieving equity. We believe our impact is greater when we root ourselves in mutuality, community, and love.
